Victoria Falls Travel Guide: Everything You Need to Know

Back to journal

June 5, 2026 · Rise Africa Safaris

Victoria Falls is one of Africa's most spectacular destinations. This comprehensive guide covers everything you need to plan the perfect visit.

Victoria Falls straddles the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, approximately 1,700 kilometres upstream from the Indian Ocean. The falls are 1,708 metres wide and 108 metres tall, making them the largest curtain of falling water on Earth.

The town of Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe side) is the primary tourism hub, with a wide range of accommodation, restaurants and activity operators. Livingstone (Zambia side) offers a more relaxed, historical atmosphere.

Both sides provide different perspectives of the falls, and a combined visit is recommended. A valid passport, visa and crossing fee allow you to move between the two countries during your stay.
